UnDEBTfeated originated in 2023 as a YouTube series spotlighting leaders in finance, business, sports, and entertainment who clawed their way out of debt—often six figures deep—and rewrote their futures.

These were real stories of real resilience, featuring guests like Christian hip-hop artist Dee-1, former NFL linebacker Lamarr Houston, S’well founder Sarah Kauss, and teen financial empowerment crusader Yanely Espinal.

Created by Bri Franklin and her team during their leadership of The Prosp(a)rity Project (2020–2024), the series became a powerful amplifier for the award-winning 35*2 Free Initiative, which provided life-changing relief to Black women devastated by student debt.

Today, UnDEBTfeated has evolved from storytelling platform to educational force—leading workshops and engagements that equip the communities most vulnerable to predatory lending with the tools to fight back and stay free.

Meet Bri

The ultimate UnDEBTfeated champion.

Hi!

I'm Bri Franklin: founder and lead facilitator of UnDEBTfeated.

Though not at all my first rodeo with starting a venture, this one is by far my most significant, as it's allowed me to turn my 10 years of lived experience fighting a debt battle of $123,000 that began when I was just 19 years young into life changing guidance for others still suffering and who potentially stand to in the future.

As a high school senior, I could've never imagined that being the first in my family to pursue an Ivy League education would've ultimately taken such a disastrous turn and derailed my life before I had the chance to build it, thanks to predatory lending.

Because of that journey, I know firsthand what it’s like to:

  • Feel as though you're drowning in a sea of seemingly insurmountable student debt obligations

  • Helplessly watch as outsized loan payments and uncapped interest rates drain your spending power

  • See your peace of mind, physical health and relationships suffer from the ensuing strain

  • Endure relentless collection calls and ruthless exploitation tactics

  • Pick up the pieces after going into default

  • And defer dreams of starting a future, family and career on your own terms

All before the age of 30.

In other words, the consequences many other financial educators are only familiar with in theory for me are a living testimony, and I'm grateful to finally be in a position to turn that pain into purposeful action that radically shifts the financial freedom trajectory for millions of others.

What started as an independent journey rooted in determination has evolved beautifully into a quest for collective liberation, and I'm honored to lead the charge.

Victory is ours,

~BBF
